Time to say goodbye

Beitrag von Gerry »

Dear Warriors, unfortunately, my 20th meeting this year didn't go particularly well, after I fell with my Warrior in the hotel parking lot on the first day and got injured. Because of that, I had to join the rideouts in the car. I made it home on Sunday despite the pain, but I managed it. As it turned out in the meantime, I broke two ribs, which I am still struggling with. The worst, however, are the psychological effects. I sadly had to realize that due to my age, I am having more and more problems handling my Warrior and don’t feel as confident as I used to. I briefly thought about it, but decided to keep the Warrior and not to sell it. After 20 years, I’m just too attached and there are many good memories associated with it. However, I have decided to give up longer tours and long rides. As things stand today, I will therefore no longer participate in future meetings. I thank everyone for your friendships and good experiences of the last 20 years. I don't want to miss any of it.

Dear Gerry,

I can completely understand your decision, and it is definitely the right one. Getting older is nothing to be ashamed of—it’s a privilege. If I’m still riding such a heavy bike at 70, I’ll know I’ve done everything right in life!

Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for us over all these years.

First and foremost, I wish you a speedy recovery. I know how painful and slow-healing broken ribs can be, so take care of yourself and give yourself the time you need to heal.

And remember: you’re a part of this group, whether on two wheels or four. The door is always wide open for you at future meetups, even in a car!

Gerry, this is a sad day, but also a day where you should hold your head high!
You have done so much for the warrior group over the years!
I’m sorry that I didn’t get to see you this year- but I sincerely hope you will attend next year - in the car if necessary - and give me a chance to shake your hand and personally wish you all the best for the future.
If we had a hall of fame Gerry, you would be in it!
Thank you for everything, and best of luck.

Gerry, this is a sad day, but we’re all getting older and it takes so longer to heal our bones as we age.

It’s been a privilege to ride with you over the years, we all have such fantastic memories of our times together.

Maybe if you have time, you can bring the car to the next meeting so we can all say our farewells the way they should be said with a person who deserves our sincere gratitude for all you’ve done for this group of Warriors.

Many have changed their bikes over time, maybe due to the circumstances, but we’re all still family.

I agree with Jarv for once you should be in the hall of fame,

Thank you my friend for all you have achieved over the years and we hope to see you in the Netherlands.
